Scottsville-Allen County is located in South Central Kentucky and is a rural county that has seen phenomenal growth attributable to its community values and the work ethic of its citizens. Although rural in nature, the county resides within 60 miles o f Nashville, TN and just 20 miles o f Bowling Green, KY, allowing residents a multitude of cultural and sporting events. Allen County has become a center for fostering non-farm entrepreneurial growth.  We are one of only 6 Kentucky counties to exceed the national average for entrepreneurial income growth…

We are very diverse in religious worship and host a large variety of churches for you to attend. Our Community offers a state-of-the-art Senior Citizens Center that offers a multitude of activities, as well as a 40,000 square-foot wellness facility, The Core, with programs offered for all ages.  We are home of The Center for Courageous Kids, a world- class medical camp for critically ill children.  The camp boasts an on-site medical center, equestrian center, bowling alley, indoor aquatic complex, and provides a wide variety of outdoor activities on over 168 acres.

…In addition to all our cultural and sporting events, we are well known as a haven for retirees that want a good quality of life. Barren River Lake provides excellent outdoor activities such as fishing and boating opportunities, as well as vacation/retirement homes overlooking the lake. Barren River Lake State Resort Park is located just 10 miles from Scottsville, offering a 51- room lodge, 22 cottages, a pool, beach, restaurant, 18 hole golf course, camping, and more.  Port Oliver Recreation Area opened in the spring of 2011 with new boat ramps, a weigh-in shelter for tournaments, playground and picnic areas, an amphitheater, and over 2000 feet of ADA accessible boardwalk.

Our historic square features distinctive antique and boutique shops, as well as unique eateries.  Visit our one-of-a-kind Mennonite community country store and produce markets, as well as our wide array of Agri-tourism destinations.  The Branham Farms Arena is a large training and riding facility, featuring horse shows sure to please all guests.  Stop by Long C Trails to enjoy over 2,000 acres of hiking and horseback riding with views of waterfalls, streams, and secluded cabins.  See candle making at its finest at the Quail Hollow Candle Factory & Gift Shop; and learn about basket making and beekeeping to see why Scottsville and Allen County are “naturally inviting.”
